"Solid Evidence" Means No Evidence

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  During December of 2002 the term "solid evidence" was used at least twice by the Bush administration. On Dec. 5 the Bush administration announced it had "solid evidence" that Iraq has WMD. On Dec. 18 the Bush administration announced it has "solid evidence" of plans by Saddam Hussein of a "scorched earth" strategy. "Solid evidence" is never produced and should probably be called "secret evidence." Some question whether "solid evidence" means no evidence. Throughout January 2003, the Bush administration refused to produce any evidence and the term for the evidence they had became "compelling." In the Bush State of the Union Address on January 28, 2003, Bush revealed no "new" evidence.
